FELIX BIRD - ARTIST
Felix Bird is an Aotearoa alt-rock staple based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, whose sound navigates between clever honesty and lush, sonic craftsmanship. Felix’s writing highlights the best parts of many genres, including folk, indie, and alternative adjacent, amalgamating them all into one auricular journey, which he dubs ‘Haircut’. Friday, the 29th of August, carries the release date for Felix Bird’s 9-track album debut. Ranging from light indie pop-inspired tracks, working its way down to heavier alternative rock essentials, his most upfront and honest work yet. Stand-out tracks, such as ‘Cigarette Slander’, have topped Radio Active’s top 11, three weeks in a row, cementing his place in the Wellington music scene. Having recently announced a band, Felix is working towards playing headlining shows by the end of this year, featuring songs from the album as well as new, unreleased tracks, hinting at further release plans already underway. Felix has taken this album as a big task, not only writing and composing each track, but also mixing and mastering it all from his bedroom, with the occasional mix note from fellow bandmate and flatmate, Kahu Sanson-Burnett. The album ‘Haircut’ shows Felix’s musical passage starting primarily as an Indie-oriented artist, marking his changes into finding his roots as an Alternative Rock necessity..
